Working Over Thyme Farm is a small, organic farm located in Southern Maryland, just 20 miles south of Washington, DC. We pride ourselves on providing fresh, nutritious produce to communities in and around DC.

About Our CSA

We are launching our first ever CSA for the 2015 season. We couldn't be more excited! As members you will have the unique privilege of developing a relationship with your food - where it grows, how it grows, and who grows it.  As your farmers, we will have the unique privilege of developing relationships with each and every member family.  As this is our inaugural season, we expect some unexpected.  Unexpected comes in lots of fun forms - vegetables that everyone wants more of, vegetables that you'd rather not see again, and impromptu CSA parties.  Our relationship will be a dynamic one - learning from each other and building a long lasting farmer-member bond. Are you ready to join us?

Why Working Over Thyme Farm's CSA?

Quality. First and foremost, our job is to provide you and your household with fresh, delicious produce you enjoy eating each and every week.  That means more than making sure your lettuce is crisp (although your lettuce will be fresh and crisp). It means developing good soil health, so your vegetables are nutrient-dense.  It means growing new and interesting varieties, like kalettes, ground cherries, edible flowers, purple carrots, and blue beans.  It means giving our members seedlings, as well as vegetables, so that they can join us on our quest to grow delicious food.  It means we will harvest your produce right before it gets to your table.  We stand behind our products, we love our vegetables, and we know you will too.

Relationship. As a member of the Working Over Thyme CSA, you will have a direct line of connection to the farmer that grows food for you and your family.  This means the ability to ask questions, to provide feedback, and ultimately to shape the type of CSA you want to be a member of.  Based on this feedback, we will adjust the type of food we grow, how much of it we grow, and the type of customer service we provide.

Community. Unlike a trip to your weekly farmers market, where the most interaction you may have with the farmers or fellow eaters is a quick hello and goodbye, as a member of our CSA you will be a member of our larger farming family. You will have the unique opportunity to share recipes weekly and take trips to our farm to run around and have fun.  We also have an open door policy for our members - call ahead and come on down. We would love to show you around and, if you want to get dirty, we always love help. As part of our inaugural season we expect a number of fun engagement opportunities: (1) membership in a CSA facebook group where members can swap recipes and share tips; (2) open door access to our farm; (3) an invitation to seasonal farm parties and special events; and (4) more fun to come!

Flexibility. No two CSA programs are the same but we aim to be as flexible as we can, while still retaining the stability that is the centerpiece of a CSA model.  Not a fan of kale? Let us know, and we will do our best to make sure you don't receive it again.  Out of town? We will gladly donate your box to DC Central Kitchen. Half share? No problem. Single season? Ok!

Pricing. Our shares are priced very competitively with other CSAs around the DC metro region. Upon checkout you will have the option to select both the length of your CSA share (full season or partial season) and the size (full or half share). In addition, for individuals residing in DC, we offer delivery for an extra fee.
